Filter Waste Products
Each glomerulus or filter is a sac with a capillary that is folded inside. It can select molecules to pass, but hold back larger molecules like proteins as well as cellular elements like red or while cells. Some molecules are small enough to pass through the filter, but because of a negative molecular charge are repelled by the membrane. We measure how fast a molecule is filtered using the glomerular filtration rate. ![]() |
