MDRD GFR Equation
The equation published in AJKD 39:S85, 2002 uses the coefficient of 1.210 for African-Americans, which
is different than the original coefficient used in the validated equation from the article above photographed from JASN 11:A0848,2000 (absract).
Table 47 of the NKF K/DOQI Clinical Practice Guidelines for
Chronic Kidney Disease also uses the coefficient 1.210, instead of 1.212.
The formula used by The Nephron Information Center is based on the original abstract publication. .
Here is the original equation:
186*(Scr)-1.154*(Age)-0.203*(0.742 if female)*(1.212 if African American)
Note that the exponents are not presented in correct mathematical notation in the abstract.
