What is diabetic nephropathy?

Diabetic nephropathy is a progessive deterioraton in kidney function that is associated with diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, it is primarily associated with the diabetic pathology per se, while in type 2 it is also related to the associated comorbidities of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
